Having returned from a week’s vacation in Mexico with friends, I find that times like that to get away and get quiet are absolutley essential for the Christian. Now, our Lord didn’t hop on a plane and fly, but he did make time to get away and get quiet before his Father:
“And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” Mark 1:35
In our technology filled, fast paced, event filled American world – when do you find time to stop, take a deep breath, with your Bible open, and allow God to speak to you through his word, and to spend some time in prayer with your Heavenly Father? When you get away on vacation – do you spend some time away from your cell phone and get quiet like our Lord.
As one who has had this opportunity lately – I encourage you to recapture the discipline of Morning and Evening Prayer! I know that, if you make it a priority in your life, you will find your relationship with the Lord renewed, and your cup overflowing with His grace!
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it! Great to be home!
