On Fridays, I post some of the more interesting articles I’ve come across throughout the week to highlight what’s happening in the world, the US, the church, in the world of religion, sports, and in culture in general.

World:    Putin vows ‘extremely tough’ action on Syria threats – President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian military to take “extremely tough” action against any threat to its forces in Syria. Such targets must be “immediately destroyed”, he told defence officials in televised comments.      Read more

US Donald Trump: Ban all Muslim travel to U.S. – (CNN)Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump called Monday for barring all Muslims from entering the United States. “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” a campaign press release said.  read more

Christian -(Washington Post) Russell Moore President of Southern Baptist Convention: Why Christians must speak out against Donald Trump’s Muslim remarks – Donald Trump is at it again. This time, the Republican presidential front-runner suggested that the United States close the border to all Muslims — including Muslim Americans traveling abroad. Anyone who cares an iota about religious liberty should denounce this reckless, demagogic rhetoric.  Read more

Anglican News:  (Spectator)  –  ‘The tide is turning’: Justin Welby interviewed by Michael Gove    There was, of course, something very special about the House of Commons debate on Syria earlier this month. The moral challenge of how to face those who embrace evil without limits, the long shadows and sombre memories generated by military actions past, the divisions within parties and between friends, the wrestling with conscience that brought good men and women close to tears. The importance of what the House of Commons was being asked to authorise inspired outstanding speeches, most notably of all, Hilary Benn’s.       read more
