Making Sunday Special @ Christ Church – A Prayer of Rest

Take some time today, tomorrow, and Saturday and read the text for this upcoming Sunday at Christ Church.  Ask the Lord to prepare your heart for what he would have for you and your family as we gather together on our day of rest, worship, and ministry!

Psalm 91          “A Prayer of Rest”

[1] He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
[2] I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

[3] For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
[4] He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
[5] You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
[6] nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

[7] A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
[8] You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.

[9] Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge—
[10] no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.

[11] For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.

[12] On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
[13] You will tread on the lion and the adder;
the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

[14] “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
[15] When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
[16] With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.” (ESV)

Taking the Day off – A Prayer of Seeking

Take some time today, Friday, and Saturday and read the text for this upcoming Sunday at Christ Church.  Ask the Lord to prepare your heart for what He has for you as we gather – 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00

Psalm 34

[1] I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.[2] My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad.

[3] Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!

[4I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.

[5] Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

[6] This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.

[7] The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. (ESV)

[8] Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

[9] Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!

[10] The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

[11] Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

[12] What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good?

[13] Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.

[14] Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

[15] The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.

[16] The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

[17] When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

[18] The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

[19] Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

[20] He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.

[21] Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

[22] The LORD redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
