World:  United States to move embassy to Jerusalem – President Donald Trump has announced that the US now recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, overturning decades of official US policy.  Read more

United States:  Minnesota Senator Al Franken resigns – Now that Sen. Al Franken has announced he will resign in the coming weeks, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton is facing a high-pressure decision over appointing a replacement.   Read more

Cleveland:    Northeast Ohio companies among recipients of $10 million for anti-opioid technologies – Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced $20 million in economic development funds would be available for technologies to combat opioid addiction.  Read more

Making Sunday Special – 2nd Sunday of Advent

Advent 2  Take some time today, tomorrow, and Saturday and read the text for this upcoming 2nd Sunday of Advent, asking the Lord that as we gather as the Christ Church Community, He would speak to us powerfully!    Mark 1:1-8

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, athe Son of God.1

bAs it is written in Isaiah the prophet,2

c“Behold, I send my messenger before your face,

who will prepare your way,

dthe voice of one crying in the wilderness:

e‘Prepare3 the way of the Lord,

make his paths straight,’”

fJohn appeared, baptizing in gthe wilderness and proclaiming ha baptism ofirepentance jfor the forgiveness of sins. And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalemwere going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, kconfessingtheir sins. Now John was lclothed with camel’s hair and lwore a leather belt around hiswaist and ate mlocusts and nwild honey. And he preached, saying, o“After me comes hewho is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down anduntie. pI have baptized you with water, but qhe will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
